Project Detail
Cost: $151k
Completion date: May 2017
SCS was engaged to perform refurbishment works at the East Melbourne Library. The works included removing the existing concrete floor slab finish (Ground & Level 1) and re-coating with
new slip resistant finish as part of maintenance works. Other parts of the works required the removal of the Ground Floor accessible toilet to provide additional space to the Library Work Room; which in turn was re-configured to better suit work flows and deal with pre-existing OH&S issues. In order to accommodate these modifications, the alternate power & data connections within the Work Room needed to be relocated with new joinery installed. The pre-existing main Entry/Service Desk area was also reconfigured to include three new customer service PODs as part of the strategy to have a common service model across all City of Melbourne libraries and deal with OH&S issues. The last task was to reconfigure the public PCs layout in order to provide more display space at the Main Entry. Within these works, the removal of the entire existing concrete floor slab finish was required and then re-coated with a slip resistant finish.
